Shot Composition

 

     Composing a great shot is the prime purpose of the Cinematographer.  Being able to see the set or location in a creative way is a skill that must be practised and applied in order to understand the importance of cinematography.

 

     Let's look at some sample shots and see how you as the cinematographer on set would set up the shots.  Be sure to apply the rules of cinematography that were previously learned in this section.

 

 

     Let's take a look at the shot at the bottom left.  We have a scene where a person is standing at the edge of a cliff.  As a cinematographer looking at this scene, you would have to decide how to frame it up.  Look at your choices below and select which one you think is the best shot.
